2007-08-19 [Mordigen]: To make it easiest, I would vote for a place closest to the most well known MARTA train station, it's big, public and everyone knows where they are, and most of the hotels (if not all) that is hosting Dragon Con are connected to the rails, so its easy to find and even for outta towners comin in that may get lost, all you gotta do is ask anyone around you, and as long as they are not *also* an outta towner --- any Atlnatan can quickly guide you to a MARTA station LOL so it would be simple to find

2007-08-20 [Avoral]: Not a bad idea. I'm all for the MARTA station. I'd say Saturday, so everyone gets the chance to get acquainted with the convention for themselves.
And I assume we're all night owls, so sometime in the evening sounds good to me.

2007-08-21 [Did you hear?]: cant be to late or else i wont be able to make it.. latest ill be able to wonder by myself is about 9:30ish.. im staying at the Marriott Marquis if someone want to try and find me if i cant make it. i also have a cell if someone want the number to try and help me cause its my first year there and im a bit stand off-ish and freaking out right now cause its so close..

2008-09-04 [Mordigen]: I actually didn't get to go and stay -- I only got to stop by for just a bit, then I had to work all labor day weekend :(
but the little part I did get to experience was quite fun -- it was a ton of fun, it seemed a lot less chaotic this year, Probably due to the economy/gas prices that limited the typical hoards from raod-tripping down here like they typically do, but it was still very busy, just a much more manageable busy.........and everyone seemed...eerr......
well, the masses were much more shitfaced this year XD
even at 10 am!

This time, let's designate a time and place (on the inside) we all meet up early on. Doesn't matter what we all do after, but there's always that time you're bored 2-3 days in and you see a familiar face from day one and bam, back to the whirling chaos you're there for--Meeting up early on, who knows, one of us could be that guy. (The term "guy", as presented herein, is intended to be gender-nonspecific.)

Unless anyone's got anything better or something's changed since I've been there (this is really just arbitrary), I say 7PM on the con's official day 1, ...
Downstairs at the Hyatt, entrance to the hallway where they host the panels? (Usually quiet there)

When does he PCS out, and where's he stationed?
IET soldiers usually have a 3-day break for Labor Day weekend, and get released at 7PM the night before (at least I used to), so that's a plus; but on the downside he'd have to be back by 7PM for recall on day 3 and still he'd be limited to 50 miles off-post without a signed memo from his commander. There are no AIT camps I know of within 50 miles of Atlanta, so if he's not graduated or authorized, he's not supposed to be there at all, make sure he stays out of trouble so he's not that guy who goes out of bounds and has the ill fortune of getting locked up. AIT = stuck in a barracks for 5 months to a year = tendency to go crazy when freedom comes your way. Been there, done that, glad I'm still clean and my liver's still there.

Gordon's a miserable place. I've got a million crazy stories from that hellhole. But yeah, sounds like he's cutting it close.
I might have to get some current contact info from you on this guy unless he already knows what he's going to do. Only reason I'm so adamant is because I had some friends come out and they had a hell of a time.

Of course Basic was a fun time, you shoot rifles and machine guns and beat each other up with sticks and jiujitsu and then you turn around and blow things up! What's not to love?
AIT's different tho, he's learning how to press buttons, fix outdated machines, and beat his head against a wall from dealing with his retarded superiors.

Haha. I'm sure he got a kick out of it, and no doubt got good at it over time. My forte was the grenade launchers. And could be worse, I had friends from Oregon and Cali over there, you can imagine how much they missed their significant others (and vice versa).
